Raised doubts as to the benefits of gluten-
For the past several years is the study of the international scientific community, the relationship existing between the symptoms of autism and the ingestion of gluten and casein .
Up to now seemed to prevail the suggestion by some researchers in Florida according to which the proteins gluten and casein would be transported to the brain and there, by binding to receptors , would have an effect that would manifest their symptoms of autism.
From the research carried out on children with autism appear that the children on a diet without gluten and casein have an improvement of some typical symptoms of the disease , such as hyperactivity , insomnia, attention deficit , lack of receptivity and ability to participate in therapy sessions .
These days , however , came from overseas the news that there would be no scientific evidence demonstrating that autistic children have actually benefits if fed with gluten-
27 in the journal Pediatrics specialists say that "as long as other studies did not try or refute the benefits of restrictive diet , better to adopt the more traditional treatments against gastrointestinal problems that plague many children with autism " ( Dr. Fred Volkmar , director of the Child Study Center at Yale University ) .
